David Spound, M.Ed., has created and led a wide range of educational programs for businesses and individuals.

He first learned meditation as a teenager, and over the years he has studied with teachers from a variety of meditative and contemplative traditions. David began mindfulness practice while searching for relief from debilitating back pain that had intensified over several years.

Through the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, David experienced a dramatic reduction in pain and a corresponding improvement in overall wellness.

Inspired by his experience and his interactions with other participants, he enrolled in teacher training at UMass Medical School's Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society, a department co-founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., developer of MBSR.

David is currently an instructor of MBSR and a part-time consultant at the UMass Center for Mindfulness.

David has many years of experience leading, producing, and partnering in the development and delivery of educational programs designed to enhance personal, management and technical skills. He has also worked as a computer consultant and web site developer on behalf of small businesses and large corporations.

His formal education includes a Bachelor's Degree from Dartmouth College and a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College.

David Spound

“My intention is to help people become more aware of the effects of stress in their lives, understand its inner and outer causes, and be empowered to make choices that lead to greater health and well-being.”
