About

David Spound, M.Ed., founded Valley Mindfulness in 2006.

His practice of meditation, spanning a variety of traditions for which he holds deep respect, dates back to the mid-1970's. For the past 10 years, the primary focus of his practice has been mindfulness.

David has been Certified as a Teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) by the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at UMass Medical School in Worcester, the organization founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., who originally created the MBSR course.

David has worked at the UMass Center for Mindfulness since 2006 and is currently a member of the MBSR teaching staff. Formerly he coordinated professional training courses for MBSR teachers.
